섬진강국제실험예술제(SIEAF)

“기억은 기록으로 살아난다. 실험은 흔적으로 이어진다.”

아카이브 전시는 지난해 섬진강국제실험예술제(SIEAF)의 성과와 감동을 다양한 매체—영상, 사진, 티셔츠, 홍보물, 자료집 등—로 되살리며, 2024년의 감각적인 현장을 통해 2025년의 새로운 축제의 장으로 관객을 초대하고 있다.

2024년 테마였던 ‘퀘렌시아(Querencia)’는 현대인들의 고단한 일상을 벗어나 자신만의 안식처를 찾고, 힐링과 회복을 경험할 수 있는 사유의 공간으로 축제화되었다.

2025년 전시는 2024 프로그램의 주요 장면뿐 아니라, 2002년 홍대앞에서 시작해 제주를 거쳐 곡성으로 이어져온 SIEAF의 23년 여정을 담은 영상과 도서 자료들도 함께 전시하여, 한국 실험예술의 궤적을 동시에 소개하고 있다. 또 2025년의 프로그램들을 소개하며 현대적인 비주얼로 제작된 도깨비 가면을 체험할 수 있게 하여 다소 생소할 수 있는 ‘실험예술’을 지역민에게 보다 친근하게 다가서게 하는 기회도 마련하였다.

'기록'은 단순한 축제의 흔적을 넘어 농촌과 예술의 만남, 자연과 인간의 감각적 연대, 글로컬 시대의 예술과 마을 공동체를 잇는 증거이며, 우리가 지나온 길을 되짚어, 다음 실험의 출발점을 함께 상상하게 하는 의미를 갖는다.
축제의 지난 시간을 되짚고, 다음 실험의 출발점을 향해 '오늘'을 재생산하는 예술적 사유의 장으로서 아카이브전은 모두에게 소중하다.

The archive exhibition revives the achievements and impressions of last year’s Seomjin River International Experimental Art Festival (SIEAF) through diverse media—including videos, photographs, T-shirts, promotional materials, and catalogues—inviting audiences to step from the sensorial experiences of 2024 into the new festival landscape of 2025.

The 2024 theme, ‘Querencia’, transformed the festival into a reflective space where modern audiences could step away from the pressures of daily life, find their own sanctuary, and experience moments of healing and restoration.

The 2025 exhibition not only highlights key scenes from the 2024 program but also presents archival materials tracing SIEAF’s 23-year journey, from its beginnings in Hongdae in 2002, through Jeju, and finally to Gokseong, offering a comprehensive view of the trajectory of Korean experimental art. Visitors can also preview 2025 programs and interact with contemporary visual interpretations, such as the Dokkaebi masks, providing an approachable experience of experimental art for local communities who may be encountering it for the first time.

These records go beyond mere traces of the festival; they serve as evidence of the convergence of rural life and art, the sensory bonds between humans and nature, and the connections between art and local communities in the glocal era. They allow audiences to revisit past journeys while imagining the starting points for future experiments. By retracing the festival’s history and projecting toward the next phase of experimentation, the archive exhibition becomes a space of artistic reflection that regenerates the present and holds profound value for all.

2025년 SIEAF에 참가하는 국내외 미술가들의 회화, 공예, 조각, 드로잉, 사진 ,소장품 등 소품을 전시하고 판매하는 프로그램으로 판매 수익금은 작품을 제작한 아티스트들에게 지급할 계획이다. 작품 가격이 부담스럽지 않게 책정되어 미술 애호가 뿐 아니라 일반 시민들도 유명작가의 작품을 소장할 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것이다.

작품 구매를 원하는 방문객은 현장에서 직접 구매하거나, 필요한 경우 작가와의 상담을 통해 맞춤형 작품을 주문할 수 있다. 구매한 작품은 현장에서 바로 수령하거나, 원하는 주소로 배송 받을 수 있다.

This program showcases and sells works by domestic and international artists participating in the 2025 SIEAF, including paintings, crafts, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and small-scale pieces from private collections. Proceeds from sales will be paid directly to the artists who created the works.

Prices are set to be accessible, making this a wonderful opportunity not only for art enthusiasts but also for the general public to acquire works by renowned artists.

Visitors wishing to purchase artworks can do so on-site, or, if needed, consult with the artists for custom-made pieces. Purchased works can either be taken home immediately or delivered to a desired address.
