Art Factory

Jisinmu · Dance · Performance

Art Factory is an arts collective that expands the traditional sensibility of the body into contemporary performing arts, connecting dance and performance with festivals and local spaces. Its director, Seo Seung-a, has developed a body of work centered on Jisinmu, expressing the relationship between earth and humanity, life and community through the language of movement. Beyond dance and performance, the group has also directed regional festivals and large-scale outdoor productions, bringing the histories of places and the stories of their people onto the stage. Its work has been presented at venues and events including the Chuncheon Mime Festival and special performances commemorating Jeju April 3, while the group has also undertaken artistic direction for festivals such as the General Hong Ui Festival and the Gunsan Time Travel Festival. Rather than treating tradition as a fixed form to be reproduced, Art Factory approaches it as a living art that can move again within the places and people of today. At SIEAF, the group transforms the earth, water, sunlight, and the farmer’s time contained in a single grain of rice into an image of life.

Shin Yong-gu

Image Performance · Installation · Video Art

Shin Yong-gu is an artist who explores nature, humanity, life, and relationships through image-based performances that combine video, installation, objects, and the body. He studied Western painting at the Graduate School of Chung-Ang University and has presented exhibitions and performances in Korea and abroad since 1991. In his work, the body becomes a moving image, while wind, light, space, and objects emerge as performers in their own right. Working across natural landscapes, cities, and diverse sites around the world, he transforms the memories held by each place and the presence of the human being into poetic visual scenes. In this work, wind moving across the rice-field paths, the body, and clothing interact with one another, revealing a moment in which nature and humanity become connected as a single living presence.

Music Band The Tune

Contemporary Gugak · World Music · Crossover

The Tune is a music group that draws its roots from Korean shamanic traditions, work songs, folk songs, and traditional rhythms, transforming them through contemporary sensibilities and sound. Intuitive vocals, the primal energy of percussion, keyboards, piri, and the powerful tone of the taepyeongso come together to create music that moves beyond conventional genre boundaries. Rather than simply reproducing traditional music, The Tune brings the ancient sensations and energies embedded within it back to life in the language of the present. Performing on diverse stages in Korea and abroad, the group has created new points of connection between Korean traditional music and contemporary world music. A performance by The Tune is not only something to hear, but an encounter with a vivid landscape of image, rhythm, and sensation.

World Music · New Wave Minyo · Electronic Music

ToqueTori is a 21st-century world music project team that brings together Korean mysticism, global musical influences, and contemporary sound. Flamenco guitarist Min Seon-jae, Korean folk singer Choi Yun-young, and classical pianist Stanislav Ossovsky bring their distinct musical backgrounds together on a single stage. The group’s wide-ranging musical world includes “New Wave Minyo,” where Korean folk song meets flamenco guitar; “Joseon EDM,” which transforms elements of traditional music and pungmul through electronic dance music; and meditative soundscapes combining sounds of nature with electronic audio. ToqueTori approaches tradition not as music of the past, but as a living language capable of freely encountering musical cultures from around the world. At SIEAF, the group redraws the sounds of mountains, seas, and nature across the meeting point of electronic and acoustic sound.

Sound Art · Experimental Music · Performance · Installation

ITTA is an artist who celebrates the landscape that emerges in the very act of listening. Since 2002, she has worked under the name “ITTA,” recording and dispersing fleeting moments in which people and places, the intangible and the tangible, meet across time and space. Through overlapping poetic language, field recordings, voice and sound, paper cutting, installation, and interaction with audiences, she positions herself as both a connector and a passage between worlds. Moving freely among performance, installation, painting, and music, her work awakens a sensory awareness of things that remain invisible yet undeniably present. Together with the family music group TENGGER, she has traveled across Asia, Europe, and North America, presenting music concerned with the environment and the spiritual dimensions of life.

Sung Baeg

Performance Art · Installation · Interdisciplinary Art

Sung Baeg is a performance artist and curator who has continuously dissolved the boundaries between genres, moving across performance, installation, painting, sound, and media. His practice is rooted in the aesthetics of “openARTs,” which regards art and life as a single organic ecosystem. Centering on the body as the most immediate analogue medium, he brings together heterogeneous materials and media—including ink, hanji, frottage, steel structures, natural objects, living organisms, and digital technology—to evoke personal memory, historical wounds, division and migration, and ecological and environmental concerns within a contemporary sensibility. Since 1999, he has explored the relationship between the body and digital media through experiments such as live internet performances, while continuing both artistic creation and international exchange through initiatives including the Busan International Performance Art Festival and the Busan International openARTs Project.

For Sung, performance is not simply an ephemeral act, but a “Messenger” that conveys ideas and memories and a site-specific practice that connects place and people. Just as he records bullet marks on the Berlin Wall through frottage and incorporates the wind and sounds of a site into his work, he transforms traces of the past into present experience through the body and material, questioning how art can engage with society. Recognized as a representative artist of the third generation of Korean performance art, he was selected as a 2026 “Focus On Artist” by the Busan Cultural Foundation, bringing renewed attention to his sustained experimental practice. At SIEAF, he reveals the layers of time and memory accumulated in nature and place through bodily and material actions, presenting art not as a completed object but as an ever-emerging and disappearing “event” that breathes with people and the environment.

Shin Do-won

Media Art · Interactive Art · Interdisciplinary Performance

Shin Do-won is a contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, installation, performance, and media art, exploring the boundaries between the real and the virtual, and between analogue and digital experience. He combines painterly color and drawing with video, sound, and 3D imagery, extending them into interactive works that respond to the movements and sounds of viewers. In doing so, he transforms the fixed image into a living, sensory space. For Shin, technology is not an end in itself, but another artistic material through which human perception, emotion, and imagination can be expanded.

More recently, he has been working with generative AI, data, video, and sound to explore new forms of perception that may emerge from the evolving relationship between humans and technology. Through processes in which images from the past and present become data and are subsequently regenerated as new images and experiences, he questions the shifting relationship between virtuality and reality. At SIEAF, rather than positioning technology in opposition to nature, Shin uses it as a medium that connects light, sound, space, and the movements of the audience, creating another sensory world within the landscape of everyday reality.

Mo Jee-min

Drag Performance · Dance · Dance Theatre

Mo Ji-min is a dancer and drag artist who performs under the name “More (毛魚).” Trained in ballet at the School of Dance, Korea National University of Arts, he has developed a distinctive language of the body while moving between pointe shoes and high heels, dance and drag, and the mainstream and the margins. In 2019, he performed in 13 Fruitcakes, presented in New York to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, and participated in HEDWIG: The Origin of Love tour. The documentary film I Am More, which chronicles his life, was invited to the Busan International Film Festival and numerous international film festivals and received several honors, including the Best Documentary Award at the 58th Grand Bell Awards. In 2023, he co-directed, choreographed, and performed in Romeo and Juliet and More at LG Arts Center, reimagining Juliet as an unfamiliar and radically new presence. He continues to expand his practice across performance, visual art, and film.

For Mo, dance is a way of challenging fixed ideas of beauty and the social gaze imposed upon the body, while also affirming his own existence. Without concealing the wounds and despair behind the spectacle, his work ultimately moves toward love and hope. Rather than presenting “difference” as something exotic or decorative, he brings to the stage the moment in which a person exists fully and unapologetically as themselves. At SIEAF, he brings the body, costume, and movement into natural and everyday landscapes, transforming familiar surroundings into unexpected scenes of beauty.

ONENESS | Interdisciplinary Art Group ONENESS

Interdisciplinary Art · Sound Art · Interdisciplinary Performance

Interdisciplinary Art Group ONENESS is a creative collective that explores contemporary society and human identity through encounters among diverse artistic languages, including music, literature, the body, visual art, and electronic sound. Grounded in cross-disciplinary collaboration and improvisation, the group has continued to experiment with forms that expand the possibilities of art and space, ranging from sound performance, laptop and mobile ensembles, and installation to literature-based performance and participatory projects involving local communities.

In particular, ONENESS reinterprets local histories, places, and collective memories through a contemporary artistic sensibility, expanding art beyond the appreciation of a finished work into a space where different people and ideas meet and form new relationships. By crossing the boundaries of literature, music, and visual art, the group seeks to reduce the distance between artists and audiences and to invite fresh perspectives on familiar stories and places. This approach has also developed into a series of works that reinterpret modern artists and literature through contemporary forms. In 2025, ONENESS presented Yi Sang and Kafka: Shadows of Wings, Traces of Metamorphosis, combining the literary worlds of Yi Sang and Franz Kafka with mime, theatre, and dance.

At SIEAF, ONENESS transforms nature and place into a living stage where sound and body, image and memory seep into one another, opening possibilities for art that can be experienced and contemplated together beyond the boundaries of genre and audience.

Sung Sang-sik

Vocal · Percussion · World Music

Sung Sang-sik is a musician who plays the drum and sings, giving voice to the stories of life through his own distinctive sound. Using two of the most fundamental musical instruments—the human voice and the drum—he communicates his reflections on people, life, and the world with simplicity and strength. His performances value the breath of the moment and the connection with the audience more than any predetermined form. Through an unadorned voice and elemental rhythm, he invites listeners to rediscover the emotions and textures of everyday life.

For generations, Jeongseon Arirang has held the lives, joys, and sorrows of the people of Jeongseon. Through song, instrumental music, movement, and traditional performance, the troupe expands this heritage into diverse forms of performing art.

Installation Art · Public Art · Light Art

Pyo Gu-cheol is an installation artist who has conveyed messages of dreams, life, and healing through hanji, light, and space. His signature body of work, Cloudfish, was born from the imagination of a fish from the lowest place meeting a cloud from the highest place and carrying people’s dreams up into the sky. Each petal of the flower held in the fish’s mouth represents a small wish; gathered together, these wishes become a dream, and the Cloudfish becomes a messenger carrying them onward to the sky and the stars.

Cloudfish emerged from what the artist describes as a “phenomenon of life,” discovered through a process of reflecting on and emptying himself between reality and ideal. Built with frameworks of steel or copper, covered with hanji, and illuminated from within, his works move beyond sculptural objects to inhabit space like living beings that breathe hope back into wounded people and places. From communication within families and the dreams of children to the memory and healing of the Jeju April 3 Incident, disappearing rivers, and environmental concerns, Cloudfish has continued to carry the stories of different places while connecting person to person, and humanity to nature.

At SIEAF, Cloudfish swims through the landscapes of the Seomjin River, forests, and villages, connecting the wishes of people with the life of nature and awakening a sense of dreams and vitality that may have been forgotten. The glow of hanji floating in nature meets the small wishes of viewers and expands into a shared landscape shaped by community and imagination.

Kook Keun Seop

Pansori · Creative Dance · Performance

Kook Keun-seop is both a farmer who cultivates his own tea and an artist whose practice moves across pansori, dance, and performance. Drawing on the physical knowledge of farming and a deep sensitivity to nature, he transforms the rhythms of the land into sound and movement. His work has centered on pansori and expressive dance, while more recently he has expanded his artistic range by appearing on stage as a model. At the intersection of his two lives—as farmer and artist—his work carries the rhythms of labor, nature, and the joy of living. In the Rice Paddy Fashion Show, he moves freely between taepyeongso, voice, dance, and the runway, bringing the vitality of the autumn fields and the exuberant spirit of community to the stage.

Gokseong Pungmul Ensemble

Pungmul · Nongak · Traditional Performance

Gokseong Pungmul Ensemble is a local traditional performing arts group that carries forward the spirit of nongak and village rituals rooted in the villages and fields of Gokseong. Pungmul was never an art confined to the stage; it was part of everyday life, moving through village roads and rice fields while connecting people with one another, nature, and the community. Through Jeongwol Daeboreum Jisinbapgi, village rituals, street processions, and performances, the ensemble continues to preserve the pungmul traditions shaped by the land and lives of Gokseong. It also works to revive disappearing village rituals and local traditions as a living culture that people today can participate in and enjoy together. In this performance, the ensemble returns to the golden rice fields and narrow paths between the paddies, opening new connections between nature and people through sound and movement.

Park Hyo-jin

Korean Traditional Music · Sound Art · Interdisciplinary Performance

Park Hyo-jin is a traditional Korean artist whose practice begins with the question, “How can we truly encounter one another?” and develops into an exploration of the art of relationships. Connecting the sounds of Korean tradition with contemporary life, she works across sound, visual art, and performance. Rather than rushing toward conclusions, she values the time it takes to approach slowly and to listen, discovering new points of sensory connection between people, sound, and space. Through albums, performances, exhibitions, and art films including Forty Seasons, 人(IN), Ipsori; Gueum, and On Desire, she has continued to develop her distinctive artistic language. In this work, she reflects on the distance between human beings and nature, and between one existence and another, through breath—the most fundamental movement of life.

Ju's Project

Nature-inspired Music · Acoustic · Crossover

Ju’s Project is a music group formed in 2015 around guitarist Park Seok-ju, who composes and performs music inspired by nature. Pursuing a nature-centered musical approach, the group values the inherent sound of acoustic instruments and an analog sense of performance rather than relying heavily on electronic devices. Through three albums—Imagine (2015), Arirang (2018), and Spring (2022)—the group has expressed nature and human emotion through warm, lyrical music. Today, Park Seok-ju is joined by Noh Mi-yeon on piano, Kim Hyo-jin on violin, and Kim Man-jeong on cello, creating an increasingly rich and resonant ensemble. At SIEAF, the group approaches the forest not simply as scenery, but as a living space to be heard, felt, and breathed through music.

Eum Ye-eun

Aerial Performance · Aerial Silks

Eum Ye-eun is an aerial performer who uses aerial silks to create striking new images of the body and space between earth and sky. Through dynamic movement high above the ground and finely controlled physical expression, she reveals gravity and tension, freedom and beauty at once. The long silks can become a garment wrapped around the body or a single line connecting the sky and the earth. In the opening performance of SIEAF, the suspended body and flowing silks emerge within the natural landscape, inviting audiences to see the surrounding space from a new perspective.

Han Young-ae

Ritual Performance · Theatre · Dance

Han Young-ae is an artist who brings together the identities of actor, mudang, and performer within a single body to create her distinctive form of ritual performance. Beginning her career in theatre, she combines lived experience with the structure of traditional Korean gut, transforming obangsaek, salpuri, haewon, and cleansing rituals into a contemporary language of performance. For her, gut is not simply a ritual inherited from the past, but a living artistic space in which the joys and sorrows of life are released and people are brought together. In her signature solo performance Color in Life, acting, the body of the mudang, music, and the five traditional colors intersect in a powerful ritual of life and death, wounds and reconciliation. At SIEAF 2026, she participates in the opening performance, transforming the Dokkaebi and toad legends of Gokseong into a contemporary ritual celebrating life.

Im Taek-jun

Painting · Installation · Performance

Im Taek-jun is an artist whose practice moves across painting, drawing, installation, and performance, exploring the boundaries and tensions between life and art. Through 45 solo exhibitions and numerous projects in Korea and abroad, he has developed a practice in which the body becomes both a tool for recording thought and a living medium that enters into relationships with space. His performance Black, created at the site of a forest fire, speaks of the cycle of life within a landscape devastated by fire, while his GAP series visualizes the spaces and boundaries between people, life, and art through forceful brushwork and a visceral physical sensibility. More recently, in A Dialogue with Nietzsche on Gwangju Art Street, he brought together body, music, and philosophical reflection through improvised performance, continuing to expand art as play, thought, and a living gesture of the present moment.

Daum (Kim Chang-deok)

Yunhoemae · Sculpture · Performance

Daum, whose given name is Kim Chang-deok, explores the cycles of nature and life through Yunhoemae, or “Reincarnated Plum Blossoms,” in which plum blossoms are recreated in beeswax. Having studied Buddhist art history at the Graduate School of Buddhist Studies at Dongguk University, he has developed a distinctive sculptural language using natural materials including beeswax, plum branches, deer hair, mineral pigments, and natural dyes. In Yunhoemae, beeswax that originated from flowers is transformed once again into blossoms, embodying the artist’s reflections on the recurring cycles of creation and extinction, death and rebirth. Moving among exhibitions, performance, and tea culture, his work invites viewers to contemplate time and existence beyond visible beauty. In 2024, he presented his 17th solo exhibition, The Moon Rises, Plum Blossoms Bloom, at the Buil Art Museum of Beopryeonsa Temple in Seoul, continuing to expand the world of Yunhoemae.

Rose Park

Hanji Sculpture · Installation · Performance

Rose Park is a sculptural, installation, and performance artist who explores birth, the cycles of life, femininity, and the origins of existence through hanji and flowers. She dyes traditional Korean paper by hand and combines it with flowers, light, objects, and media to create a distinctive artistic world that moves between two- and three-dimensional forms, spatial installation, and performance. Roses and other flowers in her work symbolize life, love, and regeneration, while hanji becomes a medium that endures time and carries the possibility of renewed life. Her representative work A Borderless Flower uses flowers to convey messages of peace and life beyond the boundaries created by humankind. In the 2025 special exhibition When Spring Comes into Bloom at the Ulju Culture & Arts Center, she combined hanji with the vitality of spring, continuing her reflection on the cycles of nature.

Tiger Baek Momjit

Street Art · Performance

Tiger Baek Momjit is a performing artist whose practice centers on mime and performance, exploring the body as one of the most direct forms of expression. Rather than relying on spoken language or narrative, he communicates with audiences through movement, facial expression, and bodily rhythm, conveying his own perspectives on everyday life and society through gestures that can be playful, striking, and intense.

Since participating in the Korean Experimental Arts Festival in 2002, he has continued to work across experimental art and street performance contexts, including the Hanok Village Mime Festival and the Chuncheon Mime Festival. His practice extends beyond the conventional separation between stage and audience, emphasizing direct encounters with viewers. At SIEAF, he brings movement into the parade, where nature, pathways, and the flow of people become part of the performance, transforming the body itself into a living image and adding vitality to the atmosphere of the festival.

Kim Seok-gyun · Yang Hyang-jin

Dokkaebi Ritual · Traditional Performing Arts · Performance

Kim Seok-gyun and Yang Hyang-jin bring the rituals, pungmul traditions, and bodily movements that have long lived within village communities into contemporary performing arts. Kim Seok-gyun has explored the body, movement, communal play, and performance through the spirit of Ttorang Gwangdae and village-based art, focusing less on artistic technique than on the collective energy that emerges when people create a performance together. Yang Hyang-jin is a recognized bearer of the traditional performing art of Gwangyang Beokku Nori and has devoted many years to researching and transmitting the nongak and pungmul-gut traditions of Gwangyang.

In the Dokkaebi-gut they present, the Dokkaebi is not a frightening ghost, but a familiar and mischievous presence that lives alongside people, laughing and playing while helping to dispel misfortune from the village. As participants keep rhythm and raise their voices together, the shared rhythm of the community takes precedence over individual virtuosity, and the gut becomes an artistic act that renews the peace and vitality of the village.

In the opening program of SIEAF 2026, their Dokkaebi-gut connects Gokseong’s local legends and communal memories with the contemporary stage

Seo Hyun-ho

LivePainting · Installation · Performance

Seo Hyun-ho is a Gokseong-based artist who explores the human body, gesture, and the memories of life accumulated within them. Through intense color, spontaneous drawing, and collage, he has expressed human joy and sorrow, anxiety, and traces of relationships, while more recently expanding his practice beyond painting into sculpture and flexible installation. The distorted bodies and faces in his work are not incomplete beings, but figures shaped by the different times and experiences they have endured. As these varied forms gather into a single landscape, they suggest the possibility of community and solidarity. In his 2026 solo exhibition River of Flowers at G&J Gallery in Seoul, even small fragments left over from the artistic process were given new life, unfolding a story of individuals and communities living “separately, yet together.”

Junk Art · Pop Art · Sculpture

Ko Geun-ho is a junk art and pop art sculptor who transforms the discarded materials of industrial society and images from popular culture into humorous sculptural forms. Using abandoned bicycles, clocks, metal parts, and other objects that have outlived their original purposes, he assembles them into new bodies and combines aluminum with vivid colors to create playful images of robots, heroes, and human desire. The robots in his work evoke memories of childhood heroes while also offering a humorous reflection on technology, consumerism, and contemporary desire. By combining the physical weight of sculpture with playfulness and popular imagination, he has expanded his practice from junk art into pop sculpture, giving everyday objects new lives as protagonists in new stories.

Lee Soon-nam

Poetry · Singing Bowl · Sound Meditation

Alongside teaching and reading poetry, she works with the vibration and resonance of singing bowls to help release thoughts and allow emotions to flow. In her practice, poetry extends beyond language and meaning into breath, voice, and silence, while the resonance of the singing bowl gently reconnects human perception with nature. At SIEAF, she has participated in programs including the Momsi Fusion Concert, where poetry, body, and music come together, as well as singing-bowl programs. In 2026, through the Oxygen Concert in Mukeun Forest, Okgwa, she creates a space in which the sounds of nature, meditation, and art resonate together.
