문화예술로 꽃피우는
섬진강권 농촌 유토피아

기후위기와 지역소멸이라는 현시대 농촌의 구조적 문제를 문화예술의 관점에서 다시 질문하고, 지속 가능한 농촌의 미래를 모색하는 공론의 장이다. 예술을 독립된 문화 영역으로 한정하지 않고 농업·축산·임업·농촌정책과 연결하여, 지역의 삶과 생태환경을 함께 바라보는 통합적 접근을 시도한다.

섬진강권의 역사와 설화, 지역문화의 가치, 농촌사회에서 지역 리더가 수행해야 할 역할 등을 논의하며 예술가·주민·행정·전문가가 서로 다른 경험과 지식을 공유한다. 기존의 전문가 중심 학술행사에서 벗어나 지역 현장의 목소리와 실천 경험을 담론의 중심에 두는 것이 핵심이다.

〈SIEAF 콜로키움〉은 예술적 상상력을 지역정책과 사회적 실천으로 연결하는 지적 플랫폼으로서, 곡성과 섬진강권의 지속 가능한 문화생태계를 구축하고 향후 농촌형 글로컬 문화 모델을 모색하는 장기적 담론의 기반을 마련하고자 한다.

A public forum that reexamines the structural challenges facing rural communities today—the climate crisis and regional depopulation—through the lens of culture and the arts, while exploring pathways toward a sustainable rural future. Rather than treating art as an isolated cultural field, the colloquium connects it with agriculture, livestock farming, forestry, and rural policy, seeking an integrated perspective on local life and the ecological environment.

The discussions address the history and folklore of the Seomjingang region, the value of local culture, and the roles that local leaders can play within rural communities. Artists, residents, public officials, and experts come together to share their different experiences and knowledge. Moving beyond the conventional expert-centered academic forum, the colloquium places local voices and practical experience at the heart of the conversation.

SIEAF Colloquium serves as an intellectual platform that connects artistic imagination with regional policy and social practice. It seeks to build a sustainable cultural ecosystem for Gokseong and the wider Seomjingang region, while laying the groundwork for a long-term discourse on a future glocal cultural model rooted in rural communities.
